This Week in Tallahassee
Earlier this week, I had the opportunity to meet with leaders of statewide tea party groups to talk about their legislative priorities for the coming year. I want to thank these folks for their participation and for sharing with me their main concerns as we get ready to draft some good conservative legislation. I look forward to continuing to work alongside these groups and I thank them for their support.
Concerns Along the District
I would also like to take this opportunity and voice my concerns regarding the unprecedented toll price that is intended to be the revenue source to get the Garcon Point Bridge over eastern Pensacola Bay out of debt. The owners have been asking drivers who take the bridge to make up for the unsustainable nature of this structure. In my opinion, continuing to raise toll prices is not the right solution and taxpayers should not have to be burdened with taking responsibility for this boondoggle that is now millions of dollars in debt with both bondholders and the state. It is my opinion that higher tolls will continue to cost this bridge more and more money, as folks will continue to seek alternate routes until the toll is reduced to a reasonable cost or completely eliminated. What do you think?
