Greg Evers Receives NRA Endorsement
Foster Folly News, January 14, 2010

Pensacola, Fla. -- " We are proud to not only endorse Greg Evers, but to tell the voters of Senate District 2 that he is our top priority," said Marion Hammer, past president of the NRA and executive director of USF. "Greg Evers has been a staunch, unrelenting supporter of the Second Amendment, Florida gun owners, the Constitution and the cause of Freedom. On behalf of our members, we thank Greg for his unwavering support and his dedication to Second Amendment rights, and we look forward to helping Greg get elected to the Florida Senate."

"I am grateful and very excited about this endorsement and what it means for our campaign," said Evers. "As a farmer and business owner in this district, I know what it means to struggle through these turmoil-filled economic and political times. I have always been committed to the values, freedoms and protections embodied by the NRA and will continue to work with the NRA as a strong supporter of our Second Amendment rights freedoms. I have been proud to represent my district on these important issues and I will continue to work to protect these rights as a member of the Florida Senate."

Established in 1871, the NRA is America's oldest civil rights and sportsmen's group. With more than 4 million members, the NRA continues its mission to uphold Second Amendment rights and to advocate enforcement of existing laws against violent offenders to reduce crime. The association remains the nation's leader in firearm education and training for law-abiding gun owners, law enforcement and the military. Organized in 1976, with the assistance of the NRA, USF is a non-profit membership organization incorporated under the laws of Florida.

Evers is a candidate for Florida Senate District 2, which consists of Holmes and Washington, and parts of Bay, Escambia, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa and Walton Counties. The seat is currently held by Senator Durrell Peaden, Jr., who is term-limited this year.

Evers currently represents Florida House District 1, which includes parts of Escambia, Santa Rosa and Okaloosa Counties. He is a farmer and small businessman who was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2001 and was subsequently re-elected. Evers has put his experience in agriculture and business to good use in the Florida Legislature and is proud of his legislative accomplishments on behalf of Florida's critical agriculture industry, economic development and job creation and Second Amendment issues. Most recently, he sponsored and passed: legislation enabling Florida farmers to transport their farm equipment from field to field without the burden of additional government permits or fees; legislation creating tax incentives that enabled the Jay Oil Field to reopen, restoring numerous Northwest Florida jobs; and legislation protecting the right of law-abiding citizens in Florida to have legal firearms secured in their automobiles in public parking lots.
