RPOF Communications, March 1, 2010

Tallahassee, Fla. -- Senate President-Designate Mike Haridopolos (R-Merritt Island) congratulated Greg Evers today, candidate for Senate District 2, for qualifying by petition for ballot placement. Haridopolos, along with other members of Senate Republican leadership, previously announced their support and endorsement for Representative Greg Evers' campaign for the Florida Senate.

"Greg continues to demonstrate that he is a hard worker who will shake every hand and knock on every door - a true representative of the people," said Haridopolos. "I applaud him for his announcement earlier today and congratulate him on this impressive show of community support."

"True representative government is public servants who are real people, supported by their neighbors throughout the district -- and Greg is an example of this type of leader," continued Haridopolos. "Qualifying by petition is not an easy task, but it is well worth the reward of support from those that truly matter. Greg will make a great addition to the Florida Senate and I am proud of his achievement and reaching this goal."

Evers, who received more than 3,000 petitions from Bay, Washington, Holmes, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Walton and Escambia Counties, is the first candidate in the SD 2 race to qualify by petition for ballot placement. Under Florida law, to qualify for ballot placement for Senate District 2, the candidate must secure the signatures of at least 2,909 voters, representing at least 1% of the total registered voters in the district.
