Oil Spill: state reps to meet with property appraisers

State Reps. Clay Ford, Dave Murzin and Greg Evers have scheduled a joint news conference with the property appraisers from Escambia and Santa Rosa counties, Chris Jones and Greg Brown, at Gulf Breeze City Hall, 1070 Shoreline Drive, Gulf Breeze.
The event is 9 a.m. Wednesday.
In a news release, Ford said they will announce their request to Gov. Charlie Crist to call for a special legislative session to address tax relief for property owners affected by the oil spill.
"Both commercial and residential property values will be affected by this disaster," Ford said in the release announcing the news conference.
When property values decline due to BP’s negligence, the affected citizens should be allowed some adjustment to their tax burden. Affected counties should expect reimbursement for that revenue loss from BP.
