Joint Meeting of Criminal Justice Committee and Subcommittee on Criminal and Civil Justice Appropriations
Tallahassee — Senator Greg Evers (R-Baker), Chairman of the Committee on Criminal Justice, and Senator Mike Fasano (R-New Port Richey), Chairman of the Budget Subcommittee on Criminal and Civil Justice Appropriations, will hold a joint committee meeting today, January 24, 2011, at 12:30 pm in 412 Knott Building, to discuss innovative strategies for reducing Florida’s criminal justice budget. The keynote speaker will be Texas Representative Jerry Madden (R-Plano).
Representative Madden was selected by Governing Magazine as a 2010 Public Official of the Year because of his work in reducing corrections spending in Texas. Madden also serves as co-chair of the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) workgroup on sentencing and corrections policy issues and chair of the Texas House of Representatives Committee on Corrections.
